Yet another rechargeable battery company has released an alternative to a bag full of AA batteries. This time around, it's Big Wave Power, which introduced its Titan I portable power source this week.
The device weighs only 4.8 ounces and is thinner than a deck of cards, 4.10 x 2.41 x.67 inches and recharge virtually any DC-power portable electronic device.
The company claims the Titan I can last over 3500 recharge cycles and can charge two devices simultaneously, one from the USB based 5 volt port, and another on the 9 volt FireWire based port.
So in essence, you could power up your Palm Treo and your iPod at the same time.
Big Power Wave, said the Titan can be fully recharged in approximately 2.5 hours and ships with nine adapters, including a USB retractable cross connecter cable for portable game players and digital cameras, as well as a USB 6 Volt booster for Nokia cell phones and some portable music players.

The handset maker said Thursday that by year's end it would start selling a cell phone battery that can be recharged by hand, using an attached hand crank.
The Toshiba PA3451U-1BRS battery, which weighs 7 ounces and is the size of a cell phone, needs just 45 seconds of cranking to generate enough power for 5 to 6 extra minutes of cell phone life, said Gary Brandt, business director for Motorola's companion products and accessories division. It will cost about $50 when Motorola unleashes it.
The goal, Brandt said, is to give those stuck with a dead cell phone battery a way to generate a few extra minutes of talk time.
"This has happened to me a couple of times, where I had a spare in my briefcase and I thought it was charged," he said. "It wasn't."
At first, the blue and yellow Tecra A7 batteries will work only on Motorola phones. But Brandt said the company intends to make it possible to use the same device on other brands, like Nokia or Ericsson, and should have something for sale by the second quarter of 2002.
Motorola is making the device through a partnership with Freeplay Energy Group, which creates other wind-up power sources.
